Tony Smith is a UK qualified lawyer with over 25 years of experience, leading Albertson's work in construction and infrastructure, and public-private partnerships (PPPs). Across his career, he has held partner positions in several leading international law firms, advised on many major PPPs in transport, health, education, defence, accommodation, energy and waste to energy in Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and Africa. Tony is a member of the United Nations PPP Team of Specialists and has served as the Head of the UN PPP Readiness Task Force.
Tony is an Associate Expert of UNDP Asia Pacific and Patron of the Charity HEART (Helping Empower Africa to Regenerate Together). At the United Nations Economic and Social Commission he drafted its Transport PPP Guidance documentation, and the UNECE Guide to Promoting Good Governance in Public Private Partnerships, which is currently the most downloaded document on the UNECE website. Tony regularly conducts capacity building training and lectures extensively on PPP related topics.
