William Tompson is Head of the Eurasia Division in the OECD Directorate for Global Relations and Co-operation, having previously spent seven years as a Senior Economist in the Organisation’s Economics Department and six years in its Public Governance and Territorial Development Directorate.
He is the author of four books on political economy and political history and numerous articles and book chapters, as well as more than a dozen OECD studies.
Professor Tompson holds BA and MA degrees from Emory University in the United States and a doctorate from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining the OECD, he taught at the University of Oxford, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of London and the Institut d'études politiques de Paris (Sciences-Po). He speaks English, Russian, French and Italian.
