The Turkmenistan Investment Forum, aimed at strengthening economic ties and attracting direct investment, is being held in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. Representatives of government agencies, international financial institutions, and major corporations gathered to discuss strategic issues.

UN Deputy Secretary-General Rabab Fatima delivered a welcoming speech via video link. She praised Turkmenistan's efforts in hosting the forum and noted that the event demonstrates the country's commitment to implementing the Avaza Action Programme and joint efforts to expand the opportunities of landlocked developing countries (LLDCs).

According to Rabab Fatima, the Third UN Conference on LLDCs, successfully held with Turkmenistan's participation, demonstrated the country's ability to bring together partners to address critical development issues. She noted that LLDCs, with their young populations and abundant resources, have enormous investment potential.

The Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries (OHRC) is working to establish an infrastructure investment mechanism, as envisaged in the Avaza Action Programme. This mechanism should attract the necessary investments to modernize the infrastructure of LLDCs.

The UN Deputy Secretary-General also recalled the launch of a global business network for LLDCs, which aims to connect these countries with international investors. In conclusion, Rabab Fatima thanked Turkmenistan for its consistent commitment to advancing the agenda of landlocked developing countries.
