Dr Claude Béglé is a Swiss entrepreneur now focused on sustainability and environmental initiatives. He is founder, Chairman and CEO of Swiss NeWater, a company built around two complementary Sustainable Development Goals: improving public health and pandemic resilience through hygiene, while protecting the environment. Swiss NeWater has developed a technology that produces eighteen eco-friendly cleaning and disinfection formulas on site, removing the need to transport and package conventional chemical products. He served as a member of the Swiss Federal Parliament from 2015 to 2019, sitting on the National Council's Foreign Affairs Committee, where he focused on peace and humanitarian affairs alongside digitalisation and cybersecurity. He also chaired a number of the Federal Assembly's parliamentary groups on international themes including the Silk Road, the Indian subcontinent, the UN and the SDGs, and humanitarian aid. His executive career spans four decades across development, consumer goods and global logistics. He began with the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs on development cooperation and with the International Committee of the Red Cross, serving in Nepal, Lebanon and Zimbabwe. He then spent fourteen years with Nestlé in marketing and management roles across several countries, followed by an executive directorship with Philip Morris in Poland. Moving into logistics in 1997, he held senior roles at TNT Express, including Vice President Europe, before becoming CEO of GeoPost International Management & Development and Chairman of DPD, both subsidiaries of La Poste. He joined Deutsche Post in 2005, becoming CEO for Germany and Central Europe and a member of the DHL Express global board. He subsequently served as Chairman of the Board of Swiss Post, and is the owner of the consultancy SymbioSwiss. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Lausanne, a licence in Law, and a diploma in International Relations from the University of Geneva. He is the author of three books, including Un colis piégé: choc de cultures à la Poste (2018).
