Gevorg Harutyunovich Papoyan was born on 11 February 1987 in the village of Ujan, Aragatsotn Province, Republic of Armenia. From 2003 to 2008 he studied at the Armenian State University of Economics (ASUE), at the Faculty of Commerce and Merchandising (now Marketing and Business Organisation). Between 2008 and 2009 he worked as a service agent at Imex Group LLC. From 2008 to 2011 he pursued postgraduate studies at the Department of Marketing of ASUE, and from 2009 to 2013 he worked at Z&A LLC, first as a service agent and then as a marketing research specialist. In 2011 he defended his dissertation and received the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences. Since 2011 he has taught at the Department of Marketing of ASUE, first as an assistant lecturer and, since 2015, as an associate professor. From 2013 to 2018 he headed the Marketing Department at BD Group LLC, and from 2018 to 2019 he held the position of Deputy Director at the same company. From 2019 to 2021 he served as a Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, elected on the territorial electoral list of Electoral District No. 3 for the My Step alliance, where he sat on the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs and belonged to the My Step faction. From 2021 to 2024 he chaired the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs of the National Assembly. He joined the Board of the Civil Contract Party in November 2022 and has served as its Deputy Chairman since December 2022. On 5 March 2024 he was appointed Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, and on 3 August he was reappointed to the post. He is married and has two children. He speaks English and Russian, and he is the author of one textbook and dozens of scientific articles.
