Ivailo Izvorski has served as the World Bank’s Chief Economist for Europe and Central Asia since December 1, 2022. He joined the Bank in 2005 as a Senior Country Economist for Bosnia and Herzegovina and has since held roles as Lead Economist, Practice Manager for Europe and Central Asia, and most recently, Practice Manager for the Global Macro, Growth, and Debt unit in the Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice. He coauthored Diversified Development: Making the Most of Natural Resources in Eurasia and has worked on countries in Europe, Central Asia, East Asia and the Pacific, and Africa at the World Bank, the Institute of International Finance, and the IMF. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.
