Narine Sahakyan

UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan

Narine Sahakyan has over 20 years of experience in the UN system, progressing from Project Coordinator to UNDP Resident Representative, and an additional 15 years in government, research institutions, NGOs, the World Bank, USAID, and other international organizations. She has extensive expertise in government reforms, EU integration, resource mobilization, and negotiating complex development solutions with state institutions, donors, and the private sector. She previously served as UNDP Resident Representative in North Macedonia and as Deputy Resident Representative in Macedonia, Moldova, and Turkmenistan. Before joining UNDP, she led the economic development department of the Eurasia Foundation (USA) and held senior positions in Armenia’s Government, including heading the Investments Directorate in the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Directorate of Foreign Investments in the Ministry of Economy. She holds a PhD in Economics from the State Planning Authority in Moscow and a BSc in Business Administration from the Engineering University of Yerevan.
