Mergen Gurdov graduated from the Military Institute of Turkmenistan in 2004 with a degree in engineering. He began his career the same year at the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan (SMST), where he held various leadership roles. From 2011 to 2017, he served as Deputy Head of the SMST, and from 2017 to 2020, he headed the Service. Between 2020 and 2023, he taught at the Military Institute of Turkmenistan. In July 2023, he was appointed Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
