Andrei Mikhnev is the World Bank Country Manager for Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, leading the Bank’s policy dialogue with government counterparts, managing the country program, and supervising the team based in Astana. He has over 20 years of international experience in economic development. Previously, he headed the World Bank Country Office in Mongolia and led programs in the Middle East and Gulf countries focused on competitiveness and private-sector-led growth. Throughout his career, he has worked on economic reforms across Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia. Mr. Mikhnev holds a Ph.D. in International Economics from Kyiv University. A Ukrainian national, he is married, has a son, speaks English, Ukrainian, and Russian fluently, and is conversant in Spanish.
