Mr. Eskender Trushin, Senior Country Economist for Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, in the World Bank’s Economic Policy for Prosperity Global Practice. He worked in the World Bank in various units from 2001. Before joining the World Bank, he worked at the Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research of Uzbekistan as head of several departments (structural reforms, investment, industry, agriculture). He also worked as a senior researcher at the Council for Economic Resources Studies and as an engineer at the Central Asian Research Institute of Irrigation (SANIIRI) in Tashkent. Mr. Trushin has master’s degrees from Duke University (USA), Tashkent University of Irrigation and Agricultural Engineering and a doctorate in economics. He has written on macroeconomic trends and economic reforms in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan, including Turkmenistan Economic Report, growth diagnostics based on enterprise surveys, trade liberalization, public finance, foreign direct investment, and land and water reforms.
