Nurgeldi Meredov brings over 15 years of professional experience in public and financial sector, economic policy coordination, and international organizations. In his current role at the Ashgabat Office of the World Bank, Nurgeldi coordinates all activities of the World Bank Group in Turkmenistan including technical assistance, capacity building, identification of potential investment projects, and advisory services. He graduated in 2003 from the International Turkmen-Turkish University, specializing in Business Management and completed his master’s degree education in 2015 from the Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC in Applied Economics. He held various specialist and advisory positions at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Cabinet Ministers of Turkmenistan, IMF and the World Bank Executive Director Offices. During 2021-2023, he managed Ashgabat stock exchange as the General Director and led new initiatives including the issuance of the first corporate bonds in Turkmenistan including the facilitation of the climate friendly components of corporate investments in manufacturing, led increasing awareness activities on ESGs, established training center at the stock exchange, boosted participation of institutional investors and promoted private sector participation at the securities market of Turkmenistan.
