Serkan holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and later enrolled in San Diego State University to complete his MBA. Before he returned to Turkey to pursue new endeavors, he worked as an investment banker for 4 years in the United States. Serkan has more than 20 years of extensive experience in the field of Financial Technologies. He was part of the founding team of Provus, the first payment processing company in Turkey, back when Financial Technologies as a field was still in its infancy. Provus provided secure and modern payment solutions for credit card, ATM and POS transactions. Provus was later acquired by Mastercard, which was one of the biggest deals made in the Turkish fintech ecosystem. After his exit from Provus, he co-founded Ininal, one of the most widely used pre-paid cards in Turkey. He also managed the process of Up Group’s acquisition of Ininal, which made Ininal a part of the European fintech ecosystem. He is also a co-founder and a board member of Next Venture which is a venture capital firm, aiming to help startups with financial support and network. The firm invests in firms operating in FinTech, Quantum Computing, FoodTech, BioTech, InsureTech, Media, AdTech, E-Commerce and Blockchain. He has been working for years to transform and digitalize the banking, transportation and payment industries for many years, and to realize his vision, has co-founded Dgpays. Serkan is also an active Business Angel and invests in early stage start-ups. Serkan Ömerbeyoğlu acquired ZUBİZU, which was established as the loyalty and marketing platform of Doğuş Group in 2014, into Dgpays as of November 2021. Dgpays, has reached an agreement to receive an investment from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in March 2021. The investment by EBRD represents one of the most significant foreign investments in Turkey’s fintech sector to date. Omerbeyoglu is married and has two children.
